  • Pendleton man gets 20 years for sex crimes

    Charles Nunley II, 42, of 8100 Organ Creek in Pendleton was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Marion Circuit Court recently for first-degree sodomy of a person under 12 years of age and second-degree sodomy (two counts).

    Nunley received credit for 571 days served.

  • Brussell, Collopy marry June 19

    Janice Marie Brussell and Matthew Derek Collopy were united in marriage June 19, 2010, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Lebanon. Deacon Joe Dant officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Chuck and Paula Brussell of Lebanon. Her grandparents are Pauline McMurtry of Lebanon, the late Sollie McMurtry and Sonny and Ann Brussell of Lebanon.
    The groom is the son of Steve and Carol Collopy of Hamilton, Ohio. His grandparents are Rayleigh and Patsey Hyden of Oneida, Patricia Collopy of  Hamilton, Ohio, and the late Robert Collopy.

  • Library to close Jan. 10-18 for a makeover

    It doesn’t seem possible but the Marion County Public Library is celebrating its 87th year of service to the county. Thanks to the driving force of the Lebanon-Marion County Women’s Club in 1923, our community has had access to books and ample learning opportunities. While the location hasn’t stayed the same, the original building was located down the street from the current address, the dedication and service hasn’t wavered.

  • An act of defiance?

    As I listened to the Marion County School Superintendent's defiant tone on the radio this morning, he sounded like a person that is threatened by the incoming school board, and he also sounded like he was challenging the new school board to bring facts to the table about what is happening in Marion County schools. So, let's lay some facts on the table:
