  • Softball: April Fool’s Day Clinic is no joke

    A fast pitch softball team based out of Georgetown, Kentucky is bringing their team and talents to Graham Memorial Park for a fundraising instructional softball clinic on April 1.
    The “April Fool’s Day Clinic” is an opportunity for girls’ 10 years old and under to come out and work on their skills with the players and coaches of the Wrath team. Coaches and players will instruct clinic participants on a multitude of skills while forming friendships with participants as well.

  • BASEBALL: Knights face Maroons again  

    After making the journey to Shelby County to take on Collins High School Tuesday, Marion County returns home to host the Pulaski County Maroons once more at 6 p.m., Thursday. Pulaski County is 0-2 on the season and was scheduled to take on the Russell County Lakers Monday evening and Garrard County last night. 
    Marion County will be looking to put a tough loss to Danville behind them as they play the Maroons for the second time in a week. 
    "We just have to make sure we hit the ball and play like we can," Campbell said. 

  • CrossFit competitions underway in Lebanon and beyond

    In the back of a car repair shop, 12 dedicated individuals push themselves to the limit, seeking to be invited to compete alongside the greatest athletes the world has. Since Feb. 23, they have embarked on the journey to be one of the 20 men or 20 women selected from the U.S and Canada to participate in the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin in August.

  • When it all began

    Seventy-eight years ago, on March 17, 1939, the madness began in a small gym in northern Illinois. In attendance were roughly 15,000 people on hand to witness the birth of what we have come to love and embrace as the NCAA Tournament, full of madness and miracles. A mere eight teams were invited to Northwestern University's campus for the inaugural tournament.   

  • SOFTBALL: Marion County Lady Knights on the road this week

    The Marion County Lady Knights looked to put a tough loss in Greensburg behind them with games Monday at Thomas Nelson and Tuesday at home against Hart County. Marion County will travel to Lincoln County Friday and Saturday for a Lincoln County Tournament. They open play against the Model Lady Patriots at 6 p.m., Friday. 

  • Lady Knights compete in first tennis meet

    The Marion County Knights finally hit the tennis courts for their first meet of the season when the girls hit the road to play in the North Laurel Tournament after rain had cancelled several scrimmages and matches. 
    "It was the first time playing for some," Head Coach Noah Swencki said. "They won some and lost some, but they had fun and that's all that matters."

  • TRACK AND FIELD: Knights open season on positive note

    The Marion County High School track and field team traveled to the Green County All-Comers Meet in Green County March 16 in a girls-only outdoor meet. Head Coach Daniel Johnson said they performed well.
    "It was a great experience for all of the girls," Johnson said. "We will continue to learn and grow as the season progresses. I thought all of the girls did a great job for their first time out."

  • Vaught’s Views: Derek Willis is a big reason UK won Sunday

    After Kentucky survived against Wichita State Sunday, a lot of attention was given to the way De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk and Bam Adebayo played, especially late in the game. However, not nearly enough attention was given to Derek Willis.
    Remember he’s the senior who has been blasted by coach John Calipari for three years and often criticized both by fans and the media for his lack of defense. However, he’s a big reason UK not only won Sunday, but also has won 13 straight games.
