  • SWIMMING: Aquaknights preparing for regionals

    Next on the schedule for the Marion County Aquaknights is the regional tournament.
    On Feb. 10-11, Marion County travels to Russell County for the regional tournament. In arguably the most important meets of the season, Aquaknights Head Coach Katie Johnson says her team will come out ready to swim. She also says she has seen improvements out of several of her swimmers.

  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: Season winding down for Lady Knights

    The district tournament is only two weeks away, and only five games remaining in the season, the Marion County Lady Knights seek a clean sweep of their remaining games when they do battle with the Boyle County Lady Rebels at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 9. The Lady Rebels (11-13) recently took on the Casey County Lady Rebels at home Feb. 7 before making the trip to the Roby Dome.
    Lady Knights Head Coach Kenny Mills expects Boyle County to play better than their record would indicate.

  • BOYS BASKETBALL: Knights shoot for wins against Panthers, Colonels

    If Montrelle Irvin is right, those on hand can expect a good fight when the Frankfort Panthers come to Marion County High School at 4:30 p.m., Saturday to play the Marion County Knights.
    "They're an up and down team," he said. "It's going to be a really tough game."

  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lady Knights finish undefeated in district

    One more win, and Marion County finished undefeated in 20th District play.
    Mission accomplished.
    Haeli Howard scored 24 points to lead the Lady Knights to a 58-38 win over the Taylor County Lady Cardinals Friday evening.
    "We started off slow," Lady Knights Head Coach Kenny Mills said. "We weren't rebounding and were settling for the outside shot. We picked it up in the third quarter and started playing better defense and getting to the basket."

  • Brady, Ryan do battle

    A player seeking his fifth world title met a franchise appearing in just its second title game. The highest-scoring offense in the league collided with a defense that gave up a mere 15.6 points per game, good enough for first in the league. A coach who has led his team for 17 seasons as the head coach squared off against a coach who just two years ago stood in the very same spotlight as the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.

  • Frisbee team takes flight at MCHS

    A simple conversation between a science teacher and a student led to something never before seen at Marion County High School. It was just a thought at first, but eventually, that thought turned into reality.
    From that simple conversation, Marion County's first Frisbee team was born.
