  • Lanham, Cissell celebrate wedding Nov. 17 at K.C. Hall

    Bryan Cissell and Kristi Lee Lanham were married in a private ceremony in Destin, Fla. on the beach Oct. 29, 2012.
    A reception will be held Nov. 17, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lebanon.
    Family and friends are invited. No formal invitations are being sent.

    Prayer Day
    The monthly Contemplative Prayer Day at St. Catharine Motherhouse will be on Nov. 17, 2012, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day includes several sessions of centering prayer, meditative walks, silence, a presentation on Thomas Merton’s Spirituality and Prayer by Father James Connor, OCSO from the Trappist Monastery, discussion on the topic, a tea meditation, a sharing about the day, and a blessing.     Jackson Lee Langford will celebrate his 4th birthday Nov. 14, 2012. He is the son of Jamie Bell of Raywick and James Langford of Lebanon.
    Grandparents are Harold Bell and Carolyn Bell, and Bobby and Trudy Langford. Great-grandmother is Mary Sue Brady.
    He has one brother, Jesse Langford, and two sisters, Jazmine and Jenna Langford.

  • Student earns Girl Scout scholarship

    When you mention Girl Scouting to people, they sometimes think only about camping, selling cookies and having fun, but that’s not the whole story. Girls like Lauren Buckman, an 18-year-old from Raywick, can tell you Girl Scouting is really about learning how to lead and succeed.
    Buckman, an ambassador level Girl Scout in Troop 1192, has earned a Jean Cole Scholarship from the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana this year. Buckman graduated this year from Marion County High School.

    Insecure jail

    At the last term of Taylor County Court, a contract was made with a Louisville firm for two iron cells or cages for the jail at the cost of $1,500. The judge of the County Court was indicted at the last Circuit Court for keeping or allowing to be kept an insecure jail, hence the late contract.
