  • Are more helmets needed?

I usually start these things off with “What a week!” or some corny thing like that, but I won’t this time. Nope, things this week are a bit serious, in fact.

The Knights baseball opened its season March 19 by defeating the Washington County Commanders, 4-3, at Idle Park in Springfield.

  • First tourney not bad, but cold

Sunday, March 23, was the first tournament for the Mid-KY Bass Anglers 2014 season.

The turnout was good with 10 boats and 19 anglers. One guy fishing by himself gave us the odd number of anglers.

Not bad for a tournament held on a frigid March day! It was bitter cold, but it neither rained nor snowed, so we didn’t complain “too” much.

  • Lady Knights top Boyle, Mercer counties

After starting their season with a win over the Mercer County Titans (1-2), the Marion County Lady Knights fell to the Green County Dragons (2-0) in an 8-7 game with two extra innings on March 18.

But the team would not let the loss drag them down.

They bounced back to defeat the visiting Boyle County Lady Rebels in an extra inning on March 20.
