  • Knights have rough start

    The Marion County High School football team hosted a preseason scrimmage against Meade County Friday evening. In the game, the Knights had some struggles and came up short against the Green Wave.

    "I guess the most important stat of the night is eight turnovers," Head Coach Jeff Robbins said. "You can't beat anyone with eight turnovers, let alone a good 6A team like Meade County."

  • Forcht Bank Bowl is this weekend in Campbellsville

    CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Four high school football games will highlight the two days of the 2012 Forcht Bank Bowl to be played Friday and Saturday nights (Aug. 17 and 18) at Finley Stadium on the campus of Campbellsville University.

  • Hunting season 'breaks loose' Sept. 1

    Had to run this in early due to being out of town over the weekend, but back by the time you read this!

    Anyway, just to get you caught up on what's in store: Aug. 15 is the opening of our squirrel season. Then, on Sept. 1, it sorta breaks loose. On that date we have several openings. Archery deer season starts and we have the early resident goose season and dove season. Just remember, you can't shoot doves, on opening day only, until 11 a.m. And, if you're hunting geese and doves, don't have any lead shot with you while goose hunting.

  • Knights soccer team begins season

    The Marion County High School Knights soccer season is in full effect.

    Saturday, the Knights fell to West Jessamine 3-0.

    Saturday, Aug. 4, the Knights tied with Paris 2-2.

    Head Coach Greg Conley noted that the West Jessamine game was much closer than the 3-0 score showed. Both of these games were preseason scrimmages, and the team opened regular season play yesterday at LaRue County.

  • Lady Knights start on strong note

    After a rough and difficult season last year, the Lady Knights soccer team has started off this year on the right foot, easily defeating Whitley County in the Berea Lady Pirate Soccerama 8-1. The team took a commanding 7-0 lead into the halftime break and easily cruised to the victory.

    In the game, Noel Obata scored five goals for the team. Sara Obata, Colleen Rakes and Miranda Bradshaw each scored one goal.

  • Lady Knights go 1-1 in first week of play

    The Marion County High School Lady Knights volleyball team defeated Thomas Nelson High School Tuesday of last week on the road, and lost to Nelson County Thursday night at the Roby Dome.

    This season, a match consists of the best of five sets.

    Weeter Southall, along with the aid of Ike Owen, landed this monster 12-inch shell cracker fish at an undisclosed location.

  • Man airlifted after motorcycle wreck on Ky. 78

    Cows may have spooked a Bradfordsville man, who was airlifted Aug. 8 after wrecking on his motorcycle along Ky. 78.

    Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger said Jeremy Clarkson was traveling on Ky 78 near Turnersville around noon when he came around a curve and saw three cows standing next to the road.
