    The Marion County High School boys basketball team hosts Casey County on Friday night at the Roby Dome before traveling to Clinton County for the Twin Lakes Holiday Classic on Monday.

  • Enterprise will print more Santa letters in its Dec. 23 edition

    The Lebanon Enterprise has received several phone calls and emails from frantic adults stating that their child's letter to Santa was not included in the special Christmas section, which was included in the Dec. 16 edition.   Apparently, the mean, nasty Mr. Grinch stole some of the letters, but they were recovered by the Enterprise Elves recently.   We would like to remind all of the adults that the deadline to submit letters to Santa was Friday, Dec.

  • Higdon preparing for senate

    Jimmy Higdon's phones rang almost constantly for days after his victory in the Dec. 8 special election to fill the 14th District state senate seat. His win over Democrat Jodie Haydon was even mentioned in The Wall Street Journal and by talk radio host Rush Limbaugh. Higdon, a Republican, was amused by the attention his victory received, but he said he wasn't going to try to analyze what his win might mean. "I'll let the experts pick it apart and digest it," he said.

  • Lady Knights begin holiday tournament stretch

    The Marion County High School girls basketball team begins one of the toughest stretches of their season as they enter holiday tournament time.

    The Lady Knights kick off the Republic Bank Holiday Classic against Ryle (4-0), a team they've already scrimmaged and beaten before the start of the season, on Saturday at Lexington Catholic.

    We all know the economy is bad. It's been that way for some time, and it's highly unlikely that things are going to change before Christmas. We also realize that when people think of donations, they often think of money first. This year, we want to encourage you to consider donating things instead. Recently, we learned that donations are down at both The Caring Closet and at the Lebanon Goodwill. The Caring Closet supports The Caring Place, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, in a couple different ways.

  • Another special election is coming

    Jimmy Higdon was the sitting state representative for the 24th district, which includes Marion and Casey counties and part of Pulaski County. His seat will be considered vacant when he is sworn in as the 14th District state senator as a result of his victory in the Dec. 8 special election. Under KRS 118.730, the governor can issue a writ of special election for a member of the General Assembly if the vacancy occurs while the legislature is not in session. That writ will set the date for the special election.

  • Lady Knights clobber Clay County

    The Marion County High School Lady Knights (1-0) took over Farnham Dudgeon Arena on Saturday morning, making themselves at home in their 54-35 victory over a highly touted Clay County (0-1) squad.

    Clay County returned all five starters from last year's 13th Region championship team but was turned back by the Lady Knights in the Battle of the Bluegrass. Clay County averaged 55 points a game last season but was only able to squeak 35 against the quicker Lady Knights.

  • Holiday wreath-laying to honor vets this Saturday

    The Lebanon National Cemetery will host Wreaths Across America, a holiday wreath-laying ceremony to honor and remember our nation's veterans, this Saturday at noon.   

    The Wreaths Across America event began in 2006, when the Worcester Wreath Company began donating holiday wreaths in tribute to veterans laid to rest at VA's 130 national cemeteries and state veterans cemeteries. For each of the past 18 years, they have donated wreaths for gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery.
