  • George takes another award

    Katie George, a senior setter and outside hitter at Assumption High School in Louisville, has been awarded as the 2011-12 Gatorade Kentucky Volleyball Player of the Year. This award is based on both on and off the court performances throughout the season. By being honored with this award, George is now eligible for the prestigious Gatorade National Player of the Year awarded later this month. George is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Salem George of Lebanon.

  • MCHS girls beat No. 4 rated team

    In the Marion County Lady Knights first game in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz., on Monday afternoon, Dec. 26, they came out on top by a final score of 56-52.
    Marion County defeated the No. 4 nationally ranked team, St. John’s College, in the first round.
    The Lady Knights’ next game was against Windward, a team from California, on Tuesday afternoon.  Results of that game were unknown as of press time.

  • MCHS Knights tame Dragons

    The Marion County Knights traveled to Greensburg to take on the Green County Dragons Tuesday of last week. After a close first quarter, the Knights began to pull away and went on to win by 30 points. Sophomore Latrelle Irvin led the scoring for the Knights by putting in 15 points.
    The two teams battled in the first period with neither team leading by more than six points. At the conclusion of the frame the score was knotted at 14. The Knights had six different players score led by sophomore Clay Lanham with four points.

  • Knights defeat Casey County

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Liberty to play the Casey County Rebels Thursday. After a slow start, the Knights bounced back and outscored the Rebels in each of the final three quarters. The Knights would overcome an early deficit to win the game by 17 points.

  • Aqua Knights defeat Nelson

    The Marion County Aqua Knights swim team hosted Nelson County at the Lebanon Aquatic Center Thursday. In the first meet of the season, Marion County defeated Nelson County by a final score of 78-52. Points were awarded based upon 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place finishes in each event.  
    The Aqua Knights are being led this season by two coaches who have never been involved in swimming. The head coach this season will be Eric King and the assistant coach will be Holly Buckman.
