  • Reunion is this weekend

    The Bethlehem Alumni Committee and Bethlehem High School will host the Second Annual Reunion Weekend August 5-6, 2011 at Bethlehem High School in Bardstown.
    Friday night there will be a reception for any alumni who graduated in a year ending in a “1” or a “6”.  The reception begins at 6:30 in the cafeteria.  
    Saturday at 12:30 there will be a luncheon for the 1961 class to celebrate their 50th graduation year. This will be held in the Sr. Mary Rachel Rooks Library.  Reservations requested.

  • Maple Street man accused of unlawful imprisonment

    Marion Lee Price, 34, of 555 Maple Street Apt. 33 in Lebanon was indicted for first-degree unlawful imprisonment, terroristic threatening, fourth-degree assault, violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO, and second-degree persistent felony offender in Marion Circuit Court recently.
    According to the indictment, on or about June 4, Price knowingly and unlawfully restrained another under circumstances that exposed her to risk of serious physical injury.
    Price was also over the age of 21 and stood convicted of at least one prior felony after his 18th birthday.

  • Kentucky loses a great cook

    I was saddened to read of the recent passing of Linda Allison-Lewis, cooking columnist in Kentucky Living, the magazine from the Inter County Energy Co-op, and the author of “Kentucky’s Best - Fifty Years of Great Recipes.”
    Though Linda and I never met in person, we talked on the phone many times about  recipes. When I wrote my own cookbook, she helped me by writing a very nice article about it, accompanied by a picture of my donkeys and me.

  • Tobacco disease heads away from Kentucky

    Blue mold finally moved out of Pennsylvania, and fortunately for Kentucky growers, it went north. On July 21, a case of the disease was reported in an eight-acre field of tobacco in Massachusetts.

  • Brady gets 20 years on drug charges

    Brandon Brady, 26, of 806 Thompson Drive in Lebanon was sentenced to 20 years in prison for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance second or subsequent offense (two counts), persistent felony offender second-degree (two counts).
    He was ordered to pay $2,000 restitution to drug task force.
    Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.
