  • Local students among spring graduates

    Eastern Kentucky University recognized 1,707 graduates at the conclusion of the Spring 2014 semester. The graduates were honored at commencement ceremonies May 10.
    Local EKU graduates include:
    • Joseph Thomas Hamilton, Gravel Switch, bachelor of science in middle grade education.
    • Alexandria Danielle Bryant, Lebanon, summa cum laude bachelor of science in psychology.
    • Dustin Charles Crane, Lebanon, bachelor of science in criminal justice.
    • Erin Victoria Ballard, Loretto, bachelor of science in biology.

    I’m not Native American. I’m not a fan of any NFL team. But I think Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins, is fighting a battle that he should unquestionably lose.

    Snyder made news Wednesday, June 18, because the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office eliminated his team’s trademark on the name “Redskins,” calling the nickname “disparaging,” or derogatory.

    Revival
    Bradfordsville United Methodist Church will hold their revival Wednesday, July 9 through Sunday July 13. Bro. Dan Frederick of Frederick Ministries will be the speaker each night. There will be special music each night. Service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday service will be at 11 a.m. with a potluck meal after the service.

The sound of rubber rolling on the pavement lets out a dry roar, and the only thing keeping the driver’s butt from meeting the road at 35 miles per hour are four slim tires, a wood floor, and a thin plastic shell that was prefabricated and assembled in a garage. 

  • KSP participates in coordinated effort to lock up child predators

    Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces around the country, including  the Kentucky State Police, launched “Operation Broken Heart” on May 1, a coordinated strike by law enforcement representing more than 3,000 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies--with the sole purpose of arresting as many child predators as possible.
