  • Police seeking suspect in armed robbery

    The Lebanon Police have responded to a report of an armed robbery around noon Tuesday, April 15, at 210 North Forest Street.

    The suspect is described as a black male wearing a long, gray jacket. He is reported to be carrying at handgun.

    Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lebanon Police at 270-692-2121.

  • What a riot!

     I could take this time to complain about a lot of things. I have not had the best few weeks of my life, and it seems like nothing has gone right. My car broke down, for good, I made a few errors last week, I have been broke and just plain crabby. 

    But, my problems are miniscule compared to the real problems going on in the world right now. 

  • Tourist commission meets this afternoon

    The Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission is scheduled to meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, in Room 300 at the Centre Square Convention Center.

    The agenda includes the following:

    • Bonnie Luckett of the Marion County Heritage Center

    • Mattingly Mattingly of the City of Lebanon parks and recreation department

    • Minutes of the previous meeting

    • Treasurer's report

    • New business:

  • June 4 will be the last day for Marion County students

    The Marion County Board of Education approved several amendments to the school calendar at its April 10 meeting.

    School will not be in session on Memorial Day.

    The last day for students will be Wednesday, June 4.

    The closing day for teachers will be Friday, June 6.

    The MCHS graduation ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 7.

  • Fiscal court meets this afternoon

    The Marion County Fiscal Court will meet in special-called meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 10. The court typically meets on the first and third Thursday of the month, but the meeting originally scheduled for April 3 was postponed until this week.

    The agenda includes the following:

    • Minutes of the previous meeting

    • Resolution declaring April as autism awareness month

    • Request for funding for students to attend the HOSA National Leadership Conference

  • West Marion Elementary Principal taking a leave of absence

    Benji Mattingly, who has been principal at West Marion Elementary School since July of 2005, is taking an unexpected leave of absence for the remainder of the school year.
    Marion County Superintendent Taylora Schlosser said Mattingly is taking “personal time” and Danny Lyvers, who was principal at WMES for 14 years before retiring in 2005, will be serving as interim principal during Mattingly’s absence.
    The Lebanon Enterprise asked Mattingly if he wanted to make a statement and he declined.

  • Lebanon Middle School students are state finalists in STLP
  • Tri-County Car Club offering auto-related scholarship

    A $500 auto-related scholarship will be awarded each May by the Tri-County Car Club based in Campbellsville. The club has members from several counties.
    Those interested in the scholarship should send a letter of application no later than April 30 of each year to the Tri-County Car Club in care of Stan McKinney, 1007 Deer Park, Campbellsville, KY 42718.

  • Marion countians invited to information session

    Many Marion County residents may wonder whether the investment of time and resources for college is worth it, while others may question if they can succeed in college.
    According to the American Association of Community Colleges, someone with an associate’s degree will receive average annual earnings around $10,700 higher than someone with a high school diploma or GED.
