     The Lebanon City Council is scheduled to hold a special called meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20.

  • District 1 magistrate candidate: Monty Ray Mullins

    Monty Ray Mullins, 54, lives in Bradfordsville with his wife, Pamela. They have three children and five grandchildren. Mullins is a 1977 graduate of Marion County High School. He works at PDCI and O’Reilly’s.

    1. Why are you running for magistrate?

    MM: I'm pretty much a people person, and I like to help out any way I can.

  • District 1 magistrate candidate: Jackie Wicker

     Jackie Wicker, 72, lives in Bradfordsville with his wife, Ollie. They have a son and a daughter, four grandsons and two great-granddaughters. Wicker has his GED, and he has been a magistrate since 2003.

    1. Why are you running for re-election?

  • District 1 magistrate candidate: Bobby Hardin Jr.

    Bobby Hardin Jr., 49, lives on Garrett Lane. He has two songs. His is a graduate of Marion County High School, and he’s worked for the Marion County Road Department for 20 years.

  • Temperature control system work underway at aquatic center

    The Lebanon City Council learned at its March 10 meeting that the Desert Aire system, which controls the temperature at the Lebanon Aquatic Center, would arrive soon.
    City Administrator John O. Thomas said Monday that the system has arrived. He added that a few weeks of work were needed outside before the interior work begins.
    The pool is open now, but Thomas added that the pool might be closed for about a week when the interior work is completed.

    The 11th annual Marion County High School Beta Junior Mister competition will be at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 22, in the MCHS gymnasium.
    This year's theme is "A Starry Night.” There are 18 young men in the show this year.

  • Lady Knights season another ‘success’

    In like lambs and out like lions, the Marion County Lady Knights ended their season after making an appearance in the 5th Region Tournament. After advancing in the first round by defeating the Bethlehem Banshees (10-13), 54-43, they fell to the LaRue County Lady Hawks (24-7), 65-54, in the semifinals.

    Lady Knights Coach Anthony Epps said overall it was a good season.

    “It was a successful season considering all the youth and inexperience we had,” Epps said in an email.

  • Sheriff’s office finds 119 marijuana plants, firearms

    The Marion County Sheriff’s Office discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation at 2:30 a.m. March 16. The sheriff’s office discovered the marijuana while investigating an unrelated complaint at 740 Burke Springs Road, five miles north of Lebanon.
    At the scene, sheriff’s deputies found 119 marijuana plants in a trailer behind a residence. The deputies also found around two pounds of processed marijuana, a small amount of synthetic marijuana, drug paraphernalia, two firearms and $366 in cash.
