    Homecoming
    On May 13, Grace Baptist Church, 350 East Main, has been a church for 30 years. Bro. Clellan Hays has been the only pastor for those 30 years. On May 18, they will be celebrating with a homecoming. Bro. Justin Cooper of Claysmill Road Baptist Church, Lexington, will be the evangelist. (He was there during the spring revival). He will be preaching at the 11 a.m. service and the 2 p.m. service. There will also be special music. They will have a noon meal and there will be no church that night.

  • Ag Credit website is revamped

    The Central Kentucky Ag Credit website (www.AgCreditOnline.com) has been overhauled to make financial guidance and information convenient for rural people. The new format has been designed as a service vehicle for anyone seeking dollars for farming enterprises, rural homes and rural businesses.
    Robert Anderson, Ag Credit’s vice president for technology and information, has spearheaded the website overhaul. He said the association launched the effort several months ago to assure up-to-date service in the rapidly changing technology environment.

  • Riggs and Bowman will marry July 26

     

    Glenn Riggs and Benita Riggs both of Bardstown announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Diana Michelle Riggs to James Shea Bowman, son of Dennis Bowman of Greenbriar and Sandra Bartley of Bardstown.
    The wedding will be held at 7 p.m. July 26, 2014 at Spalding Hall,  Bardstown.

    Silvertooth Cocanougher

  • Walnut Street man gets probation for drug trafficking

    Raymond T. Helm, 61, of 123 W. Walnut Street in Lebanon received two years of probation in Marion Circuit Court recently for second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (20 or more dosage units), first offense and prescription controlled substance not in proper container, first offense. He was ordered to pay $175 court costs.

  • Knights win regional tennis championship

    Marion County High School came out as number one in the regionals on May 7.

    Alex Spalding, the top seed in the tournament, took the region singles championship by defeating the second seed, Tyler Edlin of John Hardin, 7-5, 6-4. 

    Spalding’s victory also meant Marion County and John Hardin finished tied with nine points each in the regional team competition.

    In a playoff match, Marion County won the team championship.
