  • Knights searching for win

The Marion County High School Knights basketball team played three games last week but are still looking for their first win of the season.
“In each of our games we came up short,” Head Coach Montrelle Irvin said. “We are learning each other and we’re trying to find our identity. Each game we our improving and getting a little better, just not as quick as I would like, but we are going in the right direction.”

  • Little League has lost a lifelong friend in Romines

On Nov. 30, the local Little League program lost a very dear friend when Roger Romines, 57, died after a long battle with an illness.
Romines had been involved with the Little League program for several years, and had most recently served as the district administrator for the 5th district for approximately 20 years. Previously, Romines had been an assistant to Joe Johnson, who held the same position. Upon Johnson stepping down from that position, Romines took over.

  • Expert lessons in trapping

Saturday morning found a bunch of us sitting at the Bradfordsville Country Store listening to a very informative seminar given by Mr. Leon Smith.
That morning the former government trapper from Colorado (also a former elementary school principal) gave 16 of us a quick lesson on trapping/shooting coyotes….and cats, bear, raccoons, muskrat, etc.

  • Young guns are on top

Over the weekend a lot of things happened in the sports world. The Lady Knights continued their winning ways and look like the No. 1 team in the state. The Knights are still searching for their first win of the season, but anyone who watched their game with Madison Central can see potential. The Kentucky Wildcats had a two game winning streak, their first since the end of November. Now, before you say anything, I am still, and will always be, a fan of the Wildcats.  They may be struggling a bit this year, but it’s still early in the season.
