  • Judgment call lets 'Wild Card' be just that

I've always been one to watch a few baseball games throughout the season, but I must admit that I am not the biggest fan of professional baseball. Don't get me wrong, I love the sport of baseball, but for the most part Major League games can seem to drag on and on. Now that the Wild Card round is complete, and we are in the midst of the Divisional Series, I find myself watching the games.

  • Cross country team going strong

The Marion County High School cross country team competed in a pair of competitions recently, and posted some quality individual times.  On Sept. 27, the team took part in the Weekday Classic in LaRue County. Head Coach Daniel Johnson noted that when the girls' race was finished, it was discovered that the lead vehicle took a wrong turn. The misdirection ended up making the race 3.42 miles instead of the usual 5k, which is 3.1 miles.

  • Knights shut out by Mercer County in homecoming game

The Marion County Knights football team hosted the Mercer County Titans at John J. Boswell Field Friday. The Knights were unable to score in the game, losing the game by a final score of 55-0. The loss drops the Knights record to 2-5 on the season, with three games remaining.
"We were outplayed in every facet of the game," Head Coach Jeff Robbins said. "We blew blocking and defensive assignments all night."

  • Coyotes can created problems for pet owners and hunters

No matter how you feel about them, you sometimes have to deal with them.
Do you love your small pets?like cats and small dogs? Do you think you should only hunt what you intend to eat? Or maybe you believe in not hunting at all?just let nature take its own course.
But maybe if something's really dangerous, it can/should be dealt with! This is a dilemma for some?for others it's a small choice.
What I'm talkin' about are coyotes. Over the last several years they've just about taken over?and lost some fear of man.
