    Rosenwald
    The Rosenwald Reunion Committee will host a Gala Event from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29 at the K.C. Hall. Semi-formal dress. Music will be provided by Frankie Boy.

    Class of 1981-1983
    The classes of 1981, 1982 and 1983 will be having a reunion from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at McB’s, formerly Big Jim’s. South 49 will provide the entertainment. Socializing will be from 7-9 p.m. before the band starts. No formal invitations will be sent.

  • Couple celebrates 65 years

     

    George Owens Jr. and Grace (Porter) Owens of Lebanon celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 28, 2013.
    They have seven children, Grace Owens – deceased, George Owens III, Lydia Ann Owens White, Joseph Louis Owens, Charles Sylvester Owens – deceased, William Thomas Owens – deceased, and David Lee Owens; 13 grandchildren; and 21-great-children.

  • Building good habits

    Carpentry students at the Marion County Area Technology Center have spent time this semester building a house.
    “It gives you more of a real world feel instead of studying out of textbooks,” senior Jordan Porter said, after putting up some supports for a ceiling joist.
    And he and his classmates are grateful for the opportunity.
    “I had no idea it took this much going into a house,” Porter said.

  • Knights will face Rebels in opener

    The Marion County Knights will open the 2013-2014 season on the road at Casey County on Dec. 2. The Knights are coming off an 11-17 season, including 7-11 in regional play. Despite their losing record, Marion County does return several players from last year’s squad, including eight seniors. Coach Montrelle Irvin intends to lean on his veterans this year. 

  • No need to babysit players

    If you’ve watched any college basketball this season, chances are you’ve seen some of the new rules that have been implemented by the NCAA. In essence, these new rules decrease the amount of contact a defender can have with a ball handler, which naturally increases the number of fouls called. 

  • Holiday events coming to Bradfordsville

    The Bradfordsville community will be holding of Christmas events in the coming weeks.
    Christmas in the Country will take place Saturday, Dec. 7. The event begins with the turkey/ham supper at 4:30 p.m. After eating, visitors can ride the rides at Zippyland. The parade will take place at 7 p.m.
    Tuesday, Dec. 10, the annual Christmas pot luck will be held at the Bradfordsville Civic Center. Meat and drinks will be provided. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish.
