  • Collins and Tonge awarded Verda Calhoun Scholarships

    The Marion County chapter of the NAACP presented two scholarships to local students who will be enrolled in college in the fall. Both scholarships are worth $500. They were presented recently at Lebanon Baptist Church.

    Calhoun was a longtime president of the Marion County NAACP, and her family presented the scholarship.

  • Kentucky Farm Bureau awards more than $350,000 in college scholarships

    Though the school year is winding down, Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) is already helping some students gear up for their first college semester. Heading into the summer, KFB’s state and county offices have provided 279 scholarship grants totaling $351,800 to students across the state.
    County Farm Bureaus awarded 189 college scholarships for a total of $221,500, and the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation granted an additional 90 student scholarships in the amount of $130,300 from both county and state funding sources.

  • Bellarmine University names students to the Spring 2013 Dean's list

    Bellarmine University has named students to its dean's list for the spring 2013 semester. The dean's list recognizes students who receive a grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale. The following local residents were named to the dean's list:
    •From Lebanon: Tatum Daugherty, a junior who is majoring in communication, and previously attended Marion County High School; and Allye Hamilton, a sophomore who is majoring in exercise science, and previously attended Marion County High School.

  • Bland makes the president’s lists at St. Catharine

    Lara Caldwell Bland was recently recognized for her academic achievement and placement on the president’s list at St. Catharine College for the spring 2013 semester.
    The president’s list includes all students who completed 12 college-level credit hours and maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

  • George makes dean's list at Notre Dame

    Alexander George of Lebanon has been named to the dean's list in the University of Notre Dame’s College of Science for outstanding scholarship
    during the Spring 2013 semester. Students who achieve dean’s honors at Notre Dame represent the top 30 percent of students in their college
    George is a junior, majoring in preprofessional studies in the College of Science. He is the son of Dr. David and Jodi George.

  • Marion County residents named to Bluegrass Community and Technical College Dean’s list

    Bluegrass Community & Technical College announces the following students from Marion County who have achieved dean’s list honors for the 2013 fall semester: Ashley Bridgewater, Zachary Buckler, Dallas Cambron, Joseph Elder, Josephine Elder, Marcia Fontaine, Adam Gardner, Laicee Harris, Austin Hatchel, Alexis Kirkland, Patrick Knopp, Andrew Lee, John Mattingly, Olivia Mattingly, Joshua Newcomb, Derrick Pittman, Savannah Shewmaker, Austin Wade, and Ashley Wathen.

  • Lebanon woman graduates from University of Findlay

    Approximately 937 degrees were awarded from The University  
    of Findlay during spring commencement ceremonies May 4 in the  
    Koehler Complex on campus.
    Deanna Bradshaw of Lebanon completed her doctor of physical therapy this spring.

    A Courageous Pacers ceremony was held to recognize the following students for their participation in the Courageous Pacers program. Courageous Pacers is a fitness program that targets flexibility, strength, and endurance.
