    Arch S. O’Daniel III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arch S. O’Daniel, Lebanon, has entered Our Lady of Gethsemani monastery in Nelson County to become a lay brother. O’Daniel, who is 21 years old, entered the Trappist monastery Jan. 1.

    Calvary Congress
    The Calvary Congress 4-H Club met in Ms. Parman’s 5th grade class at Calvary Elementary on Nov. 11, 2011. To start things off, Santana Alvarez, vice-president, lead the 4-H pledge. The Calvary Congress is ready for Thanksgiving! As the club presented their program, we tried to get their class into the Thanksgiving spirit. After the presentation they began talking about Election Day. As we closed up our meeting, two members of our club, Jaxon Wheatley and Travis Wiser, both motioned for the meeting to be adjourned.

    The Marion County Chamber of Commerce’s 25th annual Farm, Home and Garden Show is scheduled for Saturday, April 14 and Sunday April 15. The show is free.
    This event will be held in Lebanon at the former tobacco servicing station. New exhibitors are welcome.   • Fiscal Court approves $4,000 for animal shelter

    To say the Marion County Animal Shelter has been overwhelmed in recent months would be an understatement. With this in mind, citizen June Sooter appealed to the Marion County Fiscal Court to assist the shelter and its employees.

    "They're overburdened and they need help. And you all need to put the money into that shelter," Sooter said during the Feb. 2 fiscal court meeting.
