  • Downs and Miles marry in Loretto

    Holly Downs of Bardstown and Daniel Miles of Loretto were united in marriage at 7 p.m. October 2, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Loretto. Deacon Eddie Hutchins officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Billy and Gail Downs of Bardstown.
    The groom is the son of Danny and Sue Miles of Loretto.

  • Mattingly and Thomas to marry July 1

    Stuart and Grace Mattingly of Lebanon announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Ann-Hill, to Matthew Thomas, son of John and Beverly Thomas of Lebanon.
    Mattingly is a 2008 graduate of Campbellsville University and is employed by the Nelson County Board of Education.
    Thomas is a 2008 graduate of Campbellsville University and is employed by the Marion County Board of Education.
    The wedding is set for 7 p.m. July 1, 2011, at St. Charles Catholic Church. A reception will follow the ceremony at Centre Square.

  • Bryant and Thompson set wedding date

    Wayne and Tammy Bryant of Columbia announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Bethany Lane Bryant, to Charles R. Thompson Jr., son of Rick and Ann Thompson of Springfield and Sandra K. King of Lebanon.
    Bryant is a 2004 graduate of Adair County High School and a 2008 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College. She is currently enrolled at Somerset Community College in pursuit of a degree in registered nursing.

  • Baseball and softball all-stars announced

    This summer, four Marion County All-Star baseball teams will eagerly represent Marion County in their quest for the state tournament in their respective age groups.

    The first All-Star team is made up of 7 and 8-year-olds. The 12 players who make up this team include Parker Barnett, Brice Pirkle, Chase Miles, Tyler Abell, Tanner Roeder, Ethan Wood, Will Fowler, Joseph Cade Thompson, Cameron Martin, Jerry Tucker, Dominick White, and Tyval Furman.  Matt Thompson will be the team's manager.

  • Epps resigns after second DUI

    Anthony Epps resigned as the Marion County High School boys basketball coach following his arrest early Saturday morning for driving under the influence.

    Epps was arrested June 18, according to Sgt. Mike Luckett with the Lebanon Police Department.

    In an email statement, Epps apologized to his family, friends, the school administration and to the community.
