    The results of the 2010 University of Kentucky Corn Silage Variety Trials are out. Farmers can use the report’s unbiased data on yield and quality to help plan for their 2011 corn silage crops.

    Any one of these great sauces would be a welcome accompaniment to ice cream, plain cake or pound cake, pastry, lots of things. I like to keep a jar in the refrigerator, just in case.
    The Strawberry Sauce is terrific on pancakes, oatmeal, waffles, and of course, ice cream. It’s also pretty and delicious drizzled over cheesecake or angel food cake.

  • Quilt contest is for kids

    The Marion County Extension Homemakers Association in conjunction with the Kentucky Bluegrass Music kickoff are sponsoring a Creative Kentucky Quilt Block Contest - for kids.
    The quilt block must be created by the youth entering the contest and on flat paper; no 3D designs (use markers, crayons, paint, glue/tape colored papers, etc).
    Make the block no larger than 8.5-inch by 8.5-inch paper (it can be smaller, but must be a square); use the entire paper.

  • Boys hang on in thriller

    Friday night, the Marion County varsity boys basketball team made the trip to Campbellsville to face the Eagles in their second battle of the season. After a hard fought game in which neither team led by more than nine points, the Knights held on at the end and came away with a 41-39 victory. This was the first district road win since February of 2008.

  • Lady Knights cruise to a 20-point win

    Saturday night the Marion County Lady Knights varsity girls basketball team was in action taking on the Ballard Lady Bruins in the final game of the 2011 Autism Awareness Classic at the Roby Dome. The Lady Knights seized control, mainly because of multiple turnovers by Ballard, and never showed any signs of weakness as they cruised to a 58-38 victory.  

  • Marion County Lady Knights pound Central Hardin Lady Bruins

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity girls basketball team traveled to Cecilia to take on the Central Hardin Lady Bruins Monday of last week. Despite being off of their home court, the Lady Knights put on a show, scoring a season high 91 points and defeating the Lady Bruins by a final score of 91-41. Junior Bre Elder led all scorers in the game with 31 points. Only one other time this season has a Lady Knight scored more than 30 points in a game.
