  • Tourism director resigns

    Nicky Reynolds came from Tennessee to become the executive director of the Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission in February of last year. In April, she will be returning to the Volunteer State, where she will become the vice president of the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
    Her final day as the Lebanon tourism director will be April 12.
    Reynolds said she has always been career-oriented.

  • Lady Knights state champ shirts back on sale

    The Lady Knights state champs shirt will be back on sale at Marion County High School this week. The MCHS bookkeeper will be taking pre-paid orders. Sales will end at 4 p.m., Friday, and shirts will be delivered the week after Spring Break (April 1-5). No extra shirts will be ordered. The cost is $10 for short sleeve and $13 for long sleeve. Sizes above XL are $2 extra.

  • Fiscal court declared March 22 as Lady Knights Day

    In recognition of the Marion County Lady Knights winning the 2013 Sweet 16 and finishing the season 39-0, the Marion County Fiscal Court approved a resolution declaring March 22 as Lady Knights Day.

  • St. Baldrick’s raises over $36,000

    The 2013 St. Baldrick's event has wrapped up (and swept up) at St. Augustine School.

    This year's event has raised more than $36,000 as of Saturday afternoon, but more money remains to be counted. St. Baldrick's Foundation raises money to fund research to combat childhood cancer.

    Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate being a mom. But, for Lesley Abell Leachman, Mother’s Day 2012 was the start of a her worst nightmare.
    During a routine trip to Target, her 8-year-old daughter, Avery, threw a typical tantrum when she didn’t get a toy she wanted. That’s when Lesley noticed a large lump on her daughter’s throat.

  • March 22 was Lady Knights Day in Marion County

    In recognition of the Marion County Lady Knights winning the 2013 Sweet 16 and finishing the season 39-0, the Marion County Fiscal Court has approved a resolution declaring March 22 as Lady Knights Day.

    Marion County Judge/Executive John G. Mattingly told the team during the March 21 fiscal court meeting that the court and the entire county was proud of them for their accomplishments on and off the court.

  • 39 & Oh How Sweet It Is

    The Marion County Lady Knights made history Saturday at the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament in Bowling Green. They became the very first Lady Knights basketball team to win a state championship, and the first undefeated state champion in girls basketball since 1984. Their perfect season, 39-0, is proof they are one of the greatest girls baseketball teams in the state’s history, according to Head Coach Trent Milby.
    “Records are made to be broken, but 39 wins will never be broken in Kentucky or Marion County High School history,” he said.
