  • School board, St. Charles SBDM discuss improvements

    The Marion County Board of Education met for approximately 45 minutes with the St. Charles Middle School Site-Based Decision Making Council. The discussion was part of the board's Oct. 26 meeting, which was held at St. Charles.   Much of the discussion centered around improving academic achievement at St. Charles. The school's scores declined in every area, except science, in the most recent test results.

  • Burnin' down the house!

    Marion County hosted the fourth annual fire school this past weekend and, according to Marion County Fire Chief Ricky Mattingly, it was a huge success.

    "We had a good year," he said. "We're really proud."

    And they should be. More than 250 participants took part in this year's fire school, some traveling all the way from Fulton and northern Kentucky, Mattingly said.

    Mattingly said Marion County plans to continue hosting the fire school, which offered 12 classes to firefighters and other emergency service workers free of charge.
