    Residence partially burned
About 11 o’clock on Tuesday night the house of Dr. M.S. Shuck, on the Bradfordsville Pike, was found to be on fire. The fire broke out in a little room at the end of the porch. Word was sent out at once to some members of the fire company, who arrived promptly, but when they arrived on the scene the engine would not work.

  • Knights win thriller against Nelson County

The Marion County Knights varsity boys basketball team took on the Nelson County Cardinals at the Roby Dome Tuesday of last week and edged out a comeback win with a final score of 52-47.
This was the Knights first game since their win in the Fort Harrod Classic on Dec. 23, a full 12 days ago.
During the first half, the Knights struggled to put points on the board while the Cardinals seemed to be pulling away.

  • Four games scheduled

Campbellsville is the host team when the Knights hit the road Friday night.  Junior varsity action will begin at 6 p.m. with varsity action to follow.  Previously this season, the Knights defeated Campbellsville when the Eagles visited Marion County on Dec. 17 with a 57-47 victory. This was the first defeat of the Eagles by the Knights since January of 2008 when Marion County edged out a one-point victory.

  • Excessive celebration?

First of all, I need to start my column this week with a word of thanks to three people.
This past Friday morning my sister had a minor run in with Mother Nature. As she was driving to school, her car hit a patch of ice and slid into oncoming traffic.
Luckily, the oncoming drivers, which included a school bus, were driving slowly enough to avoid a collision and no one was harmed.
After sliding into the oncoming lane, she headed her car into the nearest parking lot, which happened to be at The Work Connection.
