  • 9-10 All-Stars win two games

    The Marion County 9-and-10-year-old All-Star softball team played Adair County in their second game of the district tournament Sunday at Idle Hour Park in Washington County. A win would assure them a chance to compete in the final game of the tournament, which was held on Tuesday night. The Marion County team once again run ruled their opponents in four innings, keeping them undefeated in the tournament at 2-0, and giving them the opportunity to compete in the finals.

  • Youth Center hosts Dirt Bowl 2011

    Thirteen teams competed in the second annual Dirt Bowl basketball tournament held at Cleaver Court Saturday. The event was hosted by the Marion County Youth Center as a fundraiser. Participation was free to players ages 8-18, and teams from Marion County and Nelson County participated in the tournament. The first and second place finishers in each division received trophies. The tournament was double elimination, and began at 11 a.m. and wrapped up at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

  • 11-12 All-Stars are undefeated

    The Marion County 11-and-12-year-old All-Star softball team played their second game of the district tournament at Idle Hour Park in Washington County Sunday. Their opponents were from Adair County. The youngsters leaped out to an early lead in the game and never looked back, using both solid offense and defense to take away a 13-3 victory, putting the team in the final game of the district tournament Tuesday night. After this game, the team holds a 2-0 record.

  • Little League Baseball All-Star District Tourney in Lebanon this weekend

    The Little League Baseball All-Star district tournament will begin on Saturday, July 2, at Graham Memorial Park in Lebanon.  The 11-and-12-year-old team will play at noon, while the 9-and-10-year-old team will play at 2 p.m.  The 11-year-old All-Stars will play at 4 p.m.

  • Holiday closings for county offices

    Marion County offices will be closed Saturday, July 2, and Monday, July 4, for Independence Day.

    The Marion County Clerk's Office, County Judge's Office, PVA's Office, and Sheriff's Office will reopen Tuesday, July 5. Sheriff's deputies will respond to calls for service, but from July 2-4, citizens should call the Lebanon Police Dispatch at (270) 692-2121.

    The Marion Circuit Clerk's Office will also be closed July 2-4. It will reopen at 8:30 a.m. July 5.
