    The Bradfordsville Christmas Parade will be this Saturday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. Entries are to meet at the Bradfordsville Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m.
    The ham/turkey supper  will be at 4:30 p.m. Menu consists of turkey and/or ham, green beans, potatoes, dressing, slaw, cranberry sauce, rolls, drink and dessert. There is a cost for the meal.
    The Community Choir will perform a Christmas ensemble at 7 p.m. at the Bradfordsville Art Center. There is no admission.

  • Marina fire at Green River Lake

    A fire spread quickly through Green River Marina on Friday morning, completely destroying the building.

    Taylor County Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire just after 11 a.m., finding the building fully engulfed upon arrival.

    Volunteer Fire Chief George Wilson said a propane tank and an oxygen tank exploded inside the building after firefighters arrived.

    The building housed a grocery store, gift shop and restaurant.

  • Councilman-elect arrested

    Jerry Abell, who was elected to the Lebanon City Council Nov. 2, was arrested Saturday, Nov. 27, on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

  • Giving thanks, toddler style

    Instead of rambling on and on about what I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving, I thought it would be much more interesting for me to write about (and for you to read about) what a 4-year-old little boy is thankful for and my son, Owen, was the perfect candidate.

    Sitting around my mother’s dinner table last week, while Owen was eating his Spaghetti O’s, I got out a piece of paper and a pen and told my son I wanted to interview him.

  • Southern States annual meeting held in Virginia

    The 88th annual stockholder’s meeting of Southern States Cooperative was held Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the cooperative’s Richmond, Va. headquarters. Members of Southern States’ Board of Directors, stockholders and guests were given an overview of the cooperative’s performance during fiscal 2010, which ended in June.

    A little bit of old and a little bit of new will lead the Marion County High School boys’ basketball team this season.
    The little bit of old is the return of Chuck Elder, who spent last season on the bench after wrecking his knee during football season. The little bit of new is the start of former MCHS star Antony Epps’ career as a head coach.
