  • Knights defeat Campbellsville 57-47 in district game

    Friday, the Marion County varsity boys’ basketball team battled Campbellsville at the Roby Dome. From the opening tip, the two teams fought for the lead until midway through the fourth quarter when the Knights began to pull away. Marion County made 21 of 39 shots from inside the arc in the game for an impressive shooting percentage of 54 percent. The locals stretched the lead to 12 points late in the fourth period and went on to win the game by 10 points, with a final score of 57-47.

  • Lady Knights face tough competition in Ohio

    The Marion County girls’ basketball teams will travel to Pickerington, Ohio to play in the Key Bank Holiday Cage Classic beginning Dec. 28 and wrapping up on Dec. 30. The Lady Knights will face some tough competition throughout this classic. There are eight teams in the field, and nearly all of them are ranked very high in their respective states/divisions.

  • Firetruck overturns in Bradfordsville

    A Bradfordsville fire truck slid off the road and overturned while responding to a report of a one-vehicle accident at 11:36 p.m. Dec. 15.

    Bradfordsville firefighters Kevin Purdom and Dustin Hoeck were taking a 1976 Mack fire truck to assist the vehicle. They were traveling on Hwy. 49 south of Bradfordsville when the truck left the roadway.

  • Four county officials take oath of office

    Four Marion County elected officials took the oath of office shortly after noon Dec. 20 at the Marion County courthouse.

  • Holiday will affect garbage pick-up

    The county will not pick up garbage Friday, Dec. 24, Marion County Judge/Executive John G. Mattingly announced. Christmas Eve is a holiday for county employees.

    The normal Friday pick-up will take place Monday, Dec. 27, in addition to the regular Monday pick-up.

    Because this will be a double pick-up day, sanitation trucks may run earlier than usual, and county residents are advised to put their trash out earlier than usual on Dec. 27.

  • No injuries in Woodlawn Avenue fire

    The Lebanon Fire Department responded to a fire Dec. 15 at 339 N. Woodlawn Avenue in Lebanon. The fire was reported to the Lebanon Police Department at 9:23 p.m.

    Betty Jones, who rents the house, and another unknown person were inside at the time of the fire, according to Lebanon Fire Chief Ricky Mattingly. Both adults escaped unharmed.
