  • Lady Knights Win Battle of the Best

    The Marion County Lady Knights hosted the DuPont Manual Lady Crimson Saturday during the Autism Awareness Classic - a match-up featuring the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the state.
    The match-up lived up to all the hype. And the Lady Knights defeated the Lady Crimson 63-61.
    "It was a great atmosphere and a game that I'm sure people were excited to watch," Head Coach Trent Milby said. "The game could have ended with either team winning, I'm just glad it was us."

  • Duck, geese, rabbit and squirrel hunting for good measure

    I'll be kinda glad when this season is over! And I'm not talking about the deer, squirrel, rabbit or waterfowl seasons!
    What I mean is the holiday season. This season when my articles sneak up on me, a.k.a. early deadlines. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and this Monday it's Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
    Anyway, unless you've been cloistered away somewhere you know that "weather wise" it sure doesn't seem like January.

  • Little League sign-ups

    Little League sign-ups will be held from 3-6 p.m. each Friday in February at the new concession stand at Graham Memorial park. Sign-ups include baseball, softball and tee-ball for children of Marion County.
    Sign-ups begin at age 4 through 12 by April 30 for tee ball, boys coach pitch and boys league.
    Sign-ups begin with age 6 through 12 as of Jan. 1 for girls coach pitch and girls league.

  • Ford Motor Company and Stuart Powell Ford continue commitment to FFA

    Patti Powell announced last week that Stuart Powell Ford would join Ford Motor Company in its ongoing commitment to the National FFA (formerly known as the Future Farmers of America).
    Ford has committed to a 15th year of the Built Ford Tough - FFA collegiate scholarship program, which will award $1,000 scholarships to hundreds of FFA members, each co-sponsored by Ford Dealers like Stuart Powell Ford.

  • Application deadline is approaching for KSP written exam

    The Kentucky State Police has scheduled the final testing date for its next cadet class at 9 a.m. (ET) on Jan. 28, 2012 at KSP headquarters located at 919 Versailles Road, Frankfort, Ky. All application materials must be completed and returned to the KSP Recruitment Branch at the above address by Jan. 20, 2012.  The next cadet class is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2012.
