  • A wild series

    Bizarre? Childish? Heated?
    The recent series between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles could best be described as all three. It was a series that by far produced the most drama and craziness this baseball season, and the ensuing madness all started with a slide on April 21.

  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: Mills resigns as Lady Knights head coach

    Kenny Mills resigned as head coach of the Marion County girls basketball team on Friday, May 5. Mills has accepted a position as vehicle maintenance supervisor at the Marion County Public Schools bus garage. He will formally begin his new duties July 1. 

  • SOFTBALL:Marion County clinches top seed in district

    Though it wasn't the prettiest of wins, Marion County will take it.
    The Lady Knights clinched the top seed in the district tournament for the first time since 2013 on May 3 with a 2-1 win over the Taylor County Lady Cardinals.

    Sophia Kroscke and Ida Fjeldskar are embracing their time spent here in the United States as foreign exchange students. It's different over here, they say, but it's been fun.

    Even though Kentucky and Indiana no longer play annually, the two basketball coaching staffs certainly have some interesting ties now.
    Two of John Calipari’s former assistant coaches, Ed Schilling and Bruiser Flint, are on new coach Archie Miller’s staff at Indiana and both readily acknowledge Calipari has had a big influence on their careers.

    Free movie night
    Everyone is invited to a free movie night at Central Baptist Church, 540 Saint Rose Road, Lebanon, at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 7. The movie is “God’s Not Dead 2”.

    Free community breakfast
    Lebanon United Methodist Church will host a free community breakfast from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13.

    Vacation Bible School
    Lebanon United Methodist Church will have their Vacation Bible School June 19 through June 21 from 6-8:30 p.m. for ages three through fifth grade.
