    Yes, our Young Woman of the Year program is envied by every other county in Kentucky... and maybe other states. And, yes, our young ladies are the prettiest and most talented in the Commonwealth. And, yes, our Aug. 6 Young Woman of the Year deserves our respect and support.

  • Soccer season heats up

    Practices have been underway for a while for both the boys and girls soccer teams at Marion County High School. With the extremely hot weather that has been in the area for the past couple of weeks, the teams have resorted to practicing early in the morning or late at night when the temperature is not so excessive.  The unusual practice times have not deterred the teams from concentrating on their goals.

    Fall Baseball League
    Sign-ups for fall baseball will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the Little League Concession Stand. Ages are 9-12 for the 2012 Season.

    Season passes available
    Marion County High School is selling season passes for its sporting events for the 2011-12 year.
    A football season pass, which includes five home games, costs $20 ($30 for chair back seating).

  • Fall soccer registration will be held Saturday

    The Marion County Youth Soccer Association will hold its fall soccer registration at the new concession stand at the soccer fields on Fairground Road in Lebanon Saturday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. until noon.
    Registration received after Aug. 7 will not be assured of being placed on a team.

  • Bradfordsville Youth League wraps up

    The youth baseball leagues in Bradfordsville finished up play for the 2011 season recently. League coordinator Troy Overstreet was pleased with the turnout and participation in the league.
    “We had 75 kids playing in the league this year, on six different teams,” Overstreet said.
    The teams were divided into two age groups, with each division having three teams. The tee-ball group, ages 3-7, had the Reds, Yankees, and Cubs whle the “big kids” group, ages 8-14, had the Twins, Dodgers, and Pirates.

  • SCC to host golf classic

    The 21st Annual St. Catharine College Celebrity Golf Classic will take place the weekend of Aug. 5-6. The event is not only a great chance to hit the golf course and have fun, but it is also a way to provide quality higher education to SCC students.
    The festivities start the evening of Friday, Aug. 5, with a reception at 6 p.m. in the Spalding Student and Community Center on the SCC Campus. The live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a vast array of items up for bid.
