  • No school today in Marion County

    Marion County Schools are closed today, Friday, Feb. 1.

    Marion County Superintendent Dr. Chuck Hamilton issued the following statement explaining the decision to close schools today:

  • Winter weather advisory in effect for Marion County

    The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for portions of Indiana and Kentucky, including Marion County. The weather advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1.

    According to the weather service, widespread and intense snow showers are expected late this afternoon in southern Indiana and west central Kentucky. Intense bursts of snowfall could produce accumulations between one-half inch and two inches along with wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour.

    The weather service noted that 1-2 inches are expected east of I-65.

  • Color in Motion 5K racing into Lebanon

    The City of Lebanon will play host to the exciting Color in Motion 5k race on Saturday, May 11, at Graham Memorial Park and downtown Lebanon.

    According to Lebanon’s Mayor Gary Crenshaw, Lebanon is the perfect spot for this type of event.

  • Deadline to apply for scholarships is Feb. 27

    The Marion County Conservation District encourages anyone who may qualify to apply for the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts Auxiliary Scholarships, They are the George Crafton Scholarship, the Betty Barrick - Non-Traditional Scholarship, and the Natural Resources Scholarship.

  • Local students make dean’s list

    Bluegrass Community & Technical College recognizes the following students from Marion County who have achieved dean’s list honors for the 2012 Fall Semester. The college recognizes academic excellence by naming to the dean’s list full-time students who have earned an overall semester grade point average of 3.5 or better in courses numbered 100 or above.

  • Students present their career choices to underclassmen

    The 5th grade students at West Marion Elementary completed a career research project. The students chose a career they were interested in and conducted research. The students completed a report using their research and also created a presentation using posters and PowerPoint presentations. Dressed in the appropriate attire for their career the students presented their projects to the kindergarten through fourth grade classes.
