    From its humble beginnings in a little Pennsylvania town in 1939, the Little League Baseball program has grown from a group of just three teams originally located in and near Williamsport, Pennsylvania to include nearly 200,000 teams, in all 50 U.S states and in more than 80 countries. 

  • GIRLS SOCCER: Marion County falls in season opener, lose two to injury  

    Marion County lost more than its season opener against the Ft. Knox Lady Eagles on Aug. 16.
    Madi Hardin suffered a rolled ankle 20 minutes in and Katie Beth Brady suffered a minor injury also in the Lady Knights' 4-1 defeat to Fort Knox on Elmer J. George Soccer Field. Marion County Head Coach Daniel Johnson expects Hardin to be out for around two weeks though he said Brady was most likely going to be available for Marion County's next game today against John Hardin. 

  • GOLF: Knights take down Eagles, Commanders  

    The Marion County Knights traveled to the Campbellsville Country Club on Thursday to take on both the Campbellsville Eagles and the Washington County Commanders in a boys-only match, putting up a solid performance as the Knights defeated both teams. Marion County shot a 175, Campbellsville shot a 188 and Washington County shot a 189. 
    Ethan Spalding and Bryce Spalding both led the Knights with a 42. 

  • Carrick brings musical mission to St. A. Aug. 30

    Julie Carrick, Catholic recording artist and radio personality is coming to Lebanon for a “catechetical artistry” mission event at St. Augustine Catholic Church  at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30.

    Gospel group ‘Driven’ will perform
    New Beginnings Community Church, located at 8876 Perryville Road, between Springfield and Perryville on Highway 150, would like to welcome everyone to their Youth Center for Sunday Morning Worship on Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. where the gospel group “Driven” will be playing and ministering.
     

  • Vaught’s Views: High expectations for Wildcats football

    Kentucky opens the football season Sept. 2 at Southern Mississippi with high expectations after a 7-6 season and bowl bid last year. The Wildcats have been picked as high as third in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division by some college football analysts.
    Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has said he expects the team to be better, and his players agree.
