  • Lady Knights win season-opening scrimmages

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team competed in two scrimmages last week, both on the road. Marion County played Bardstown on Tuesday of last week, and was in action against both Green and Pulaski County Thursday night. The Lady Knights were able to win all three scrimmage matches, going into the regular season on a positive note. The team was in action last night at Thomas Nelson High School, but results were unknown at press time.

    Larry and Jeanne Kirk of Marion, KY, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Samantha Jo Kirk, to Evan Michael Tate, son of Michael and Rita Tate of Hardinsburg.

  • Yocum and Calhoun engaged

    Richard and Hattie Yocum of Lebanon announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Theresa Ann, to Michael Steven ëStevieí Calhoun, son of William Cowherd and Betty Calhoun, both of Lebanon.
    Yocum is a 1993 graduate of Washington County High School and a 2012 graduate of National College in Danville with a degree as a medical assistant. She is employed at TGKY.
    Calhoun is a 1996 graduate of Marion County High School and is employed at TGKY.

  • Purdom 4th birthday

    Kyle Lewis Purdom will celebrate his 4th birthday Aug. 7, 2012. He is the son of Kevin and Amy Purdom of Bradfordsville. Grandparents are Porter and Gloria Bright and Tony and Charlotte Purdom, all of Bradfordsville. He has one brother, Wesley.

    The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting at Fit Kids today, Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. Fit Kids is located at 650 Metts Drive in Lebanon.   • Springfield man indicted for third-degree burglary

    Steven B. Jeffries, 19, of 62 Kelly Brothers Road in Springfield was indicted for third-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking over $500.
    According to the indictment, on or about May 16, Jeffries entered and remained unlawfully in a building with intent to commit a crime or he aided, abetted or counseled with another in said act.
    The indictment also reads that he took or exercised control of property valued at more than $500 belonging to another with intent to deprive them thereof.
