  • Can't have it all

    I have heard a coworker sing the song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want" to his daughter, and that phrase rings true in many aspects of our lives. When it comes to the sports world, we get plenty of games to watch, but they don't always go our way.

  • Knights win season opener against Mercer County

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team hosted Mercer County at the Roby Dome On Tuesday of last week. Playing without senior Carlos Litsey, the Knights struggled on the boards and committed 27 team fouls. However, Marion County was able to pick up the win in front of the home crowd to start the season 1-0 with sophomore Clay Lanham coming off the bench to score 20 points, leading the way for the Knights. John Southall just missed having a double-double by collecting eleven assists and eight points.

  • Knights hang on to defeat Cardinals

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team went on the road Friday night to play the Nelson County Cardinals in their second game of the season.  Sophomore Alex Smith was able to come off of the bench and lead the Knights to a second straight victory, taking their record to 2-0. A Knights team hasn't gone 2-0 since the 2009-10 season, and only four times since the 2000-01 season.

  • Lady Knights win season opener

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team hosted Casey County at the Roby Dome in their season opener Monday of last week. Marion County jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating Casey County by a final score of 69-49.

    After shooting nearly 50 percent for the game and nailing 10 three pointers, the Lady Knights cruised to a 20 point victory. Under Head Coach Trent Milby, the Lady Knights have won their season opener every year except one, 2006-07, Coach Milby's first year.

  • Nike Tournament of Champions

         The preliminary bracket has been released for the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz. Currently, the Lady Knights are set to face a team from Washington, D.C. on Monday, Dec. 19, but the bracket has not been finalized.  Several factors were used in determining pairings, including each team's relative strength, experience, past performance, school size, and geography.  The final bracket is set to be released on Friday, Dec. 9. 

  • Lady Knights defeat Nelson County

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Bardstown to take on the Nelson County Lady Cardinals Friday night. After a dismal first half, only scoring 24 points, the Lady Knights picked it up in the second half to come away with a 66-53 victory, taking their record to 2-0.

  • First deer - Thompson

    J.C. Thompson, age 8, bagged his first deer, a 6-pointer, on Nov. 12, 2011. He is the son of Ray and Stacy Thompson of Raywick.    

  • First deer - O'Daniel

    Jordon O’Daniel, age 13, killed his first deer, an 8-point buck, during Youth Hunt weekend, Oct. 9, with his dad on his grandparents farm. He is the son of Doug and Carolyn O’Daniel.    

  • Marion County fifth graders wins tournament

    The Marion County fifth-grade traveling basketball team won the championship at the Central Hardin Hoop Classic on Nov. 19-20 in Elizabethtown, defeating Owensboro, New Albany and finally the BC Swish in the championship game.
