  • Groundhog predicts an early Spring in 2013

    Saturday was about as exciting as it gets. Granted, it was cold and windy, with a little snow in the mix. But, I was determined not to miss it. It’s been in the planning stages for almost a year and now it was going to happen.
    So I layered up and headed out to an area I’d had my eye on for a while. The signs were all good that my quarry used this area so that only left relying on my stalking abilities to get the job done.

  • Freshmen girls win district tournament

    The Marion County High School freshman Lady Knights won their district tournaments at Adair County High School recently. The Lady Knights were 6-0 in district play and 15-1 overall.
    The Lady Knights defeated Taylor County in the opening, 41-9, and hung on to topple Adair County, 39-36, in the title game.

    As I have said before, nothing is ever set in stone. Nothing is truly a 100 percent guarantee. So, after saying that, I find myself sitting here typing a column wanting to say those words, but I know that I have to control myself.

  • LMS second in state tourney

    The Lebanon Middle School Sixth Grade Patriot basketball team competed in the sixth grade state tournament at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington from Jan. 25 through the Jan. 27.
    The tournament consisted of 64 sixth-grade middle school teams from across Kentucky vying for the opportunity to be state champs. The pool of 64 teams were seeded and divided into four regions of 16 teams, based on the outcomes of the pool play games.
