  • By request: Local small boat tournament coming soon

    I was recently asked if there was a tournament or tour for those who, either by choice or circumstance, fish from “small” boats.
    Small boats, as in 12-foot or less i.e. Jon boats, pond boats, kayaks, little pontoons, etc.
    Take your choice of brands or styles. The truth is that they’re 12 foot or less, the kind you can stick in the back of a full-size pickup truck. Ya don’t have to, but ya could!

  • Lebanon Tennis Open is Aug. 17-18

    The Eighth Annual Farmers National Bank Lebanon Tennis Open will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17-18, at Graham Memorial Park in Lebanon.
    There are 23different divisions based on skill, age, sex or event (singles or doubles), to give all players a fighting chance at their respective skill levels.
    A complete division list can be found at: http://www.ckts.org/.  The tournament is open to anyone but CKTS members are also vying for points in a competing circuit that includes tournaments in eight different central Kentucky cities.

  • Wood named all star at Baseball Youth Nationals

    Baseball Youth Magazine and Athletix teamed up to host the first Baseball Youth Nationals at the Elizabethtown Sports Park.
    Ethan Wood played for two teams during the court of the event. In the first week, he played for the Premier Storm (June 21-27), and in the second week, he played for the Danville Mustangs (June 28-4).

  • All Stars win Munfordville tourney

    The Marion County Minor League All-Stars recently won the Munfordville Summer Blow Out.
    In their first game, Marion County defeated the Monroe County All Stars, 11-1, in five innings. Will Hunt led Marion County with three hits. Dallas Cox and Keagan Milby added two hits each.
    In their second game, Marion County defeated the Munfordville Red Sox, 11-7.
    In the first inning, Marion County scored three runs, but Munfordville answered with two runs in the first inning and one run in the second to tie the score.

  • Lebanon golfer helps BHS team to win

    The Bethlehem High School Eagles golf team started the year off with the second annual Lee’s Famous Recipe Kickin’ Chicken Tournament on Monday, July 29. Participating in the tournament were teams from Bardstown High School, Bethlehem High School, Nelson County High School and Thomas Nelson High School. For the second year in a row, Bethlehem has taken home the traveling trophy, winning the competition by 29 strokes. Pictured are Corey Robinson, Henry Smith (of Lebanon), J.T. Smith, Daniel Steele and Will Schlosser.

     

  • Skaggs wins at Ohio Valley

    Bud Skaggs won the Quick 16 and was runner-up in Super Pro at Ohio Valley Raceway in Louisville on July 27, 2013.

  • Cinema at the Square

    Friday, Centre Square was packed with fun and festivities as the Marion County Public Library put on its annual Cinema at the Square event.
    Children of many ages were treated to inflatable activities, such as a slide and bouncies, and treats were served at low prices.
    The event itself was sponsored by The Friends of the Library.
    This year’s movie was “Journey to the Center of the Earth 2” starring Duane “The Rock” Johnson.

When a student athlete is injured his or her physician can use this initial base line cognitive test as a comparison to help aid in determining the athlete’s readiness to return to play. The test takes about 20 minutes and measures multiple cognitive functions including: attention span, working memory, reaction time and non-verbal problem solving.
