  • Check home for Radon

    Oct. 17-24 is Federal Radon Action Week according to the surgeon general. Health agencies throughout the United States have joined forces to promote awareness of the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers.
    The American Lung Association, Centers for Disease Control and National Cancer Institute all agree that radon is a national health problem and encourage radon testing during the October awareness drive.

    Reports from the Lebanon Police Department

    –A school bus driver reported that a field was on fire at 4:12 p.m. Sept. 2 on Siloam Road. The Bradfordsville Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
    - On Sept. 4, Jennifer D. Walters of Lee Avenue in Lebanon reported that several items were stolen, including 60 movies, cosmetics, cellular telephone and a hair straightening iron, totaling $1,935. She also reported that the ignition switch on her van was damaged.

  • Kids Day, bass tourney are this weekend

    Just so ya don’t forget: This weekend, Sept. 17 and 18, is the official kickoff for Ham Days. It’s our annual Kids Day at Sportsmans Lake followed by a bass tournament  Sunday at Fagan Branch.
    Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. we’ll have a bunch of stuff for the kids. Kids are those under 16 years of age.
    There’ll be inflatables and canoe rides to keep them busy. We’ll also have a fishing contest where every legal fish is weighed and the total weight will count for first-, second- and third-place.

  • Memories of 9/11

    As I sit in front of my computer screen, I have watched several of the pre-game ceremonies held at various stadiums across the country on the 10th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
    Every time I see coverage of that fateful day, even 10 years later, I seem to freeze and not be able to do anything but watch it. I am amazed at the seemingly new information that seems to pop up each time.

    Beverly Brockman Games, a former member of the MCHS Lady Knights’ golf team, was chosen recently as one of three women to represent Kentucky in the USGA National Team Championship golf tournament in Savannah, Ga., in October. See more about this in an upcoming issue of The Lebanon Enterprise.
