  • Old timer's play ball!

Friday evening, on the first night of the Bradfordsville Old Mill Days, an old timer's softball game was held at the ball field. Seventeen men and women over the age of 45 showed up to compete in this year's game. The players were split up into two teams as evenly as possible, one team named the All-Stars and the other being the Legends. The All-Stars ended up defeating the Legends by a final score of 12-11. Each player received a medal for participating in the game.

  • Let's talk lures

Last week, I lost a good friend and former co-worker. While Chief Joe Bell will be remembered for many things, I have a picture in my mind that sums up how I'll always remember him.

My image is of a Ford pickup truck... Lord knows it had to be a Ford! Filling the bed of the truck and hanging out every window is a Little League baseball player. His team... someone else's team... didn't matter!

Family, friends, law enforcement officers, local and national officials and members of the public were among the hundreds of people who gathered Saturday afternoon at Marion County High School to pay their respects to Lebanon Police Chief Joe Bell.

During the service, Lebanon Mayor Gary Crenshaw, who had appointed Bell as the police chief just 14 months earlier, commended Bell for his leadership, his perseverance and his ability to smile in any situation.
