  • Six arrested at high school for public intoxication

    Three 17-year-olds, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old were arrested at Marion County High School Monday, Sept. 14, on charges of public intoxication.

    One of the 17-year-olds is facing additional charges of possession of a controlled substance, prescription controlled substance not in its original container and trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school. Another of the 17-year-olds was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and prescription controlled substance not in its original container.

  • Ham Days rain plan in effect

     

    Mother Nature must not realize that one of the biggest festivals in central Kentucky is taking place this weekend. Or, she doesn't particularly care for ham.

    Nevertheless, the rain that continues to fall in Lebanon and Marion County has already caused some changes in Ham Days events.

    Friday night's Miller Lite 100.9 MIKE FM Battle Of The Bands, which was originally scheduled to be held at Johnston Field behind Centre Square, will instead be taking place inside the Centre Square Convention Center.

  • I'm a ham, oh yes I am

    "Ham Daze." "Hamtastic." "Hambrella Days." And, my all-time favorite... "Burp!" Those are some of the fun, silly and ridiculous headlines and phrases that have been used in The Lebanon Enterprise over the years to describe this community's most beloved festival - Marion County Country Ham Days. "Burp!" has my father written all over it. It was the headline in the edition following Ham Days in 1981.

  • Ham Days comes to a close

    It may have been wetter than they would have like, but the runners in the 2009 Pokey Pig helped Marion County Country Ham Days get off to a running start. 

    Scores of runners and their supporters endured the wet conditions to complete the 3.1-mile course.

    The overall winners were Matthew Mattingly and Sara Obata. Both are student-athletes at Marion County High School.

    Mattingly was the fastest finisher overall, and Obata was the fastest female finisher. Mattingly runs cross country, and Obata is a member of the Lady Knights girls soccer team.

  • Lady Knights finish third in Heartland

    Last week, the Marion County High School girls golf team traveled to Green County for the Heartland Conference tournament and came home with third place.    

    Junior Hayley Abell led the way with a 93 while Amy Brown had a 98. Olivia Carrico shot a 100. Brianna Reynolds shot a 119 and Taylor Howard had a 121 to finish out.

  • Ham Days treasure hunt is over

    Belle and Brady Elder, the children of Janice and Jason Elder of Lebanon, were able to solve the clues and find the Time Warner treasure in this year's Ham Days Treasure Hunt. The item hid was a gold star on the marquee at Big Jim's.

  • Trophies from the 50s resurface

    Trophies from the 1953 and 1954 Lebanon High School conference champion football teams recently resurfaced after being missing for over 20 years.

    Raphael O'Daniel said the trophies from the South Central Kentucky Conference championship turned up recently, and just in time. A reunion for team members and their 90-year-old coach Ted Cook sparked a search for the missing trophies.

  • Lady Knights secure number one seed

    This was supposed to be a rebuilding year. Instead it's looking eerily similar to last year's district title team.

    The Marion County High School volleyball Lady Knights knocked off district rival Taylor County 2-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-21) on Thursday night at Taylor County to claim the number one seed in the 18th District tournament.

    The Lady Knights had to knock off Taylor on their home court to claim the advantage as they entered the match tied 1-1 in the season series. The Lady Cardinals are the only blemish on the Lady Knights district record, which stands at 7-1.

  • Ham Days bring back fond memories

    When I first bought land and moved to Kentucky in 1973, I lived in Taylor County on Tallow Creek Road, which is closer to Lebanon than Campbellsville. So, I usually did my grocery shopping and such in Lebanon.

  • Pedestrian dies after collision on US 68

    A woman from Ekhorn died and a Campbellsville woman was injured after they were struck by a Ford truck Friday, Sept. 18.

    The collision occurred at 8:39 p.m. on U.S. 68 approximately four miles west of Lebanon.

    Ladonna J. Sallee, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene, and Trena R. Summers, 32, was transported to Spring View Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

    According to the Kentucky State Police, alcohol appeared to be a factor involving the pedestrians. Summers was cited for alcohol intoxication.
