  • New goal for the New Year

    Every now and again, the world, or a community, or a family, or a sport, loses an important figure.
    Sometimes, it seems like these losses come in pairs or trios. Sometimes, they can be expected, sometimes, out of the blue.
    Often, it seems, these strings of deaths have little in common with myself, or anyone I know. But when thrown in the mix of a new year, these deaths can’t help but make me think a little bit harder about life.

  • Marion County doubles the fun

    The Marion County Knights and Lady Knights both defeated their counterparts from Campbellsville in a Jan. 3 doubleheader.
    The Lady Knights (5-7) wasted no time in crushing the Lady Eagles, 67-17.
    Lady Knights Coach Anthony Epps said he and the team were very confident going into the game against the Lady Eagles (1-9) but because they are not as strong as they have been in the past, they could not afford to take the night off.

    Has anyone been outside lately? If so, you’ve probably experienced a regional dose of global warming! The other day it even got warm enough to thaw out a Mountain Dew I had in my blind bag.

  • Police investigating murder-suicide on Marion-Taylor county line

    The Central Kentucky News-Journal is reporting that police are investigating a murder-suicide near the Marion-Taylor county line.

    The Taylor County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. on Finley Ridge Road, the News-Journal reported.

    Paul Dewayne Sprowles and Karyn Rae Meeks were pronounced dead at the scene by the Taylor County coroners. They have been taken to Louisville for autopsies.
