  • Bardtown’s Charlie Battery visits college for Military Appreciation Day Nov. 11

     

    On Friday, Nov. 11, St. Catharine College was supported by members of Charlie Battery, 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery, Kentucky Army National Guard from Bardstown in commemorating its 6th Annual Military Appreciation Day.
    The ceremony, marking the 92nd anniversary of Armistice Day, was a tribute to Kentucky’s fallen warriors with a special tribute to those of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

  • West Marion Elementary Honor Rolls

    The following West Marion Elementary students earned the honor rolls for the first nine weeks of the 2011-2012 school year.
    FIRST HONOR ROLL
    • Third grade - Landon Cambron, Eli Durham, Zachary Essex, Amber Farris, Brennan Hamilton, J.T. Lee, Brice Pirkle, Lauren Thomas and Samuel Thompson.

  • School district prepared for upcoming winter season

    If conditions are obvious the night before that the weather will not allow for school the next day, then school officials will make the cancellation call that night by 9 p.m. Often this is not the case, so district transportation staff begin checking the roads at 3:30 a.m. the next morning. School officials also make contact with local road crews, as well as the police department, to pinpoint local trouble areas.

  • Senator Higdon visits West Marion
  • Lebanon Middle School is finalist for $25,000 award

    Lebanon Middle School is one of 30 finalists for Windstream’s SchoolsWIN Classroom Connections program, and Windstream is encouraging the public to vote for its favorite finalists to determine which schools will receive one of at least six $25,000 awards.
    Since August, the SchoolsWIN program has been encouraging public, private and charter schools within Windstream’s residential service areas to participate in a community improvement project and submit videos of their projects for a chance to receive $25,000 for technology.

    Contemplative Prayer
    St. Catharine Motherhouse, located two miles west of Springfield on KY 150, will have its monthly Contemplative Prayer Day from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. The day includes contemplative/centering prayer, meditative walks, silence, personal prayer, a presentation on the mystic: St. John of the Cross (Biography and Prayer Life) by Sr. Luisa Derouen,OP, discussion on the presentation, brief sharing about the day and a Blessing.   All interested adults invited.  Bring a bag lunch.
