    Family and Friends Weekend
    Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Springfield will be having a Family and Friends Weekend Sept. 17 and 18. Saturday will be fun day at the park and Sunday at 3 p.m. there will be a songfest at the church. Musical guests will be Jo Sickles, Velma Thompson, Betty Nichols, Anita Spalding and Tyrone Burton along with the Johnson Chapel Choir, and featuring The Men of St. James Musical Ensemble of Danville. Rev. Michelle Washington is pastor and all are invited.

    Oct. 17-24 is Federal Radon Action Week according to the surgeon general. Health agencies throughout the United States have joined forces to promote awareness of the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers.
    The American Lung Association, Centers for Disease Control and National Cancer Institute all agree that radon is a national health problem and encourage radon testing during the October awareness drive.

  • Police Log 9-14-11

    Reports from the Lebanon Police Department

    –A school bus driver reported that a field was on fire at 4:12 p.m. Sept. 2 on Siloam Road. The Bradfordsville Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
    - On Sept. 4, Jennifer D. Walters of Lee Avenue in Lebanon reported that several items were stolen, including 60 movies, cosmetics, cellular telephone and a hair straightening iron, totaling $1,935. She also reported that the ignition switch on her van was damaged.
