  • Conway, P'Pool agree on gambling issue, it’s time for the voters to decide

    Despite advertisements and debates to the contrary, Attorney General candidates Jack Conway and Todd P'Pool do have a few things in common.

    Conway, the Democratic candidate and current attorney general, will face P'Pool, the Republican candidate, on Election Day, Nov. 8.

    Conway, 42, believes his record shows his dedication to the attorney general's office, a position he has held since 2008.

  • Crowds greet World War II veterans on Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

    Hundreds of flag-waving family, friends and patriotic Americans packed the terminal at Louisville International Airport Saturday night to welcome home veterans returning from a trip to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
    Twenty-nine veterans, ranging from ages 85 to 92, went on the one-day trip that was sponsored by Inter-County Energy, Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and the Bluegrass Chapter of the Honor Flight Network. All were veterans of World War II, except two who served during the Korean War.

    Maternal grandparents are Doug and Janet Jenkins of Lebanon.
    Paternal grandparents are Jim and Cathy Lewis of Elizabethtown.
    Great-grandparents are Veronica Hill of Lebanon, Roberta Havsch of Greenwich, Conn. and Dr. Douglas Jenkins of Richmond.
    Virginia Claire has one sister, Ann Douglas Lewis.

    The Marion County High School Class of 1996 will hold a 15-year NON reunion at Prime Lounge, 104 West Main St., Louisville, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Admission is free. No food will be served.

    Starting in late November/early December Marion County Public Library will add even more online resources to make visiting the library, even from your own home, easier than ever! MCPL is joining Kentucky Libraries Unbound, powered through Overdrive, to allow its library patrons access to downloadable audio books, e-books, music, videos and more. It’s like having a library branch right in your own home. All you’ll need is a library card and password and you’ll be set to start downloading when the system takes effect.
