  • Marion County falls to Nebraska state champs

    In a back-and-forth game between two teams fighting for survival, Marion County’s 11-12 all stars lost to the Nebraska state champions, 9-7, in the Little League Central Region tournament on Monday.

    With the loss, Marion County drops to 0-2 in pool play. Their final pool play contest is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday against the Iowa state champions.

    The top two teams in the pool will advance to the elimination round, which is scheduled for Thursday.

  • Tough start for Marion County all-stars in Central Region tourney

    Marion County’s 11-12 softball all-stars played their first game in the Little League Central Region softball tournament Sunday. Unfortunately for the local squad, they lost to Elyria East, the Ohio state champions, 11-4.

    After falling behind 7-0 after two and a half innings, Marion County rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the third inning.

  • Fiscal court meets this afternoon

    The Marion County Fiscal Court is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 18.

    Items on the agenda include:

    - Minutes of the previous meeting

    - A contract for services with Lincoln Trail/Marion County Health Department

    - Policy handbook revisions for the Marion County Detention Center

    - Appointment of Michael Butcher to the Marion/Washington County Airport Board

    - Proposal from Trinity video/communications for fiscal court room technology upgrade

    - Department reports

  • Kara Tingle Reward Fund up to $12,000

    It's been three years since Kara Tingle disappeared.
    No one has seen or heard from Kara since July 17, 2010, when she was last seen on Beechfork Loop Road in Gravel Switch. She was driving a family member's car that was found two days later on the Bluegrass Parkway.

  • 11-12 year-olds win state championship

    Braving a barrage of heat, rain, wind, thunder, lightning, and a tornado warning, the Marion County 11-12-year-old softball team narrowly knocked out Clay County, 3-2, in 11 innings Sunday afternoon at North Laurel Little League in London. 

    The win gave Marion County the title of state champions for the first time in this division.

Jets Over Kentucky was on.  Last week at the Lebanon-Springfield Airport, jet engines roared and remote control planes performed tricks while people exchanged laughs and jokes about their models, experiences and current events.
