  • Baseball team's play improves

    The Marion County High School baseball team participated in the Scott McAninch Memorial Tournament this past weekend and were able to pick up a win, but fell in the other two contests by one run each time.

  • MCHS baseball camp this month

    The Marion County High School baseball team will be hosting a baseball camp at the end of May.
    Ages 9-14 will have camp from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., May 28-29.
    Ages 7-8 will have camp from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., May 30-31.
    The baseball coaching staff will give instruction.
    A camp T-shirt will be given to each player. Each player will also receive a small lunch after each day.
    The camp will cover many fundamental drills and fun activities in teaching of the game of baseball.
    The cost for ages 9-14 for camp only will be $30.

  • MCHS boys basketball team meeting May 17

    The Marion County High School Knights basketball team will have a player/parent meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 17, at Marion County High School. The meeting is for anyone interested in playing summer basketball to discuss practice, camps and costs. If you cannot attend, you need to contact Coach Irvin in advance at (270) 403-4707.

  • Basketball summer camp June 13-15

    The Marion County High School boys basketball coaching staff is hosting a summer camp June 13-15 for boys and girls.
    The camp will offer children a chance to improve his/her basketball skills as well as the opportunity to meet new kids.
    The cost is $50 per camper.
    Children in grades 3rd-5th will have camp from 9 a.m. to noon.
    Children in grades 6th-8th will have camp from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Way to go

    Well, another school year is in the books in Marion County. Several things happened recently that I believe are worth mentioning. Several athletes from Marion County High School put up some impressive feats, a team did something that has only happened twice before, and one athlete had an absolute monstrous week at the plate from the softball team.

    Lady Knights compete in Boyle County Invitational

  • Knights take top honors in singles and doubles competition

    The Marion County Knights tennis team was able to come away with top honors in both singles and doubles competition at the regional tournament last week.  Freshman Alex Spalding claimed the singles crown, while the duo of senior Noah Swencki and junior Jacob Burdette took the top spot in doubles action.

  • Softball team picks up 20th win of season

    The Marion County Lady Knights softball team won five of its seven games last week. Both losses came in the Campbellsville Invitational Tournament.
    Marion County's overall record now stands at 20-6. According to Coach Todd Spalding, this softball team is the second in school history to reach 20 wins.

  • Lady Knights compete in regional tourney

    The Marion County Lady Knights tennis team competed in the regional tournament last week, and the doubles team of Elyssa Holt and Madison Cassidy came away with a top four finish. According to Head Coach Angela Holt, this qualified the duo to play in the state tournament, the first girls to do this since Jane Claire Spalding and Leah Mattingly in 2008.

    Jenna Cecil struck out five and Olivia Ford had three hits and three RBI's including a two run triple in the 1st. The Mets never looked back from that point forward. Alice Farmer added three runs scored and two hits. For the Reds Jaci Benningfield had two hits and Kate Cobb had a hit and scored a run.
