    Jan. 15
    - Murphy’s USA on Campbellsville Highway in Lebanon reported a theft of $72.75 worth of gasoline.

    Jan. 16
    - Portia Smith of Maple Street Apartments in Lebanon reported a burglary. Her front door, bathroom door and wall was damaged at her residence. Amount of damage unknown.
    - Amanda Tungate of Boldrick Avenue in Lebanon reported a case of criminal mischief. The mirror was broken off of her 2007 Pontiac, causing $250 in damage.

  • Eight die on Kentucky roads

    Preliminary statistics indicate that eight people died in seven separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, Jan. 17, through Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011.
    All of the crashes involved motor vehicles and four of the victims were not wearing seat belts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Hardin, Jefferson, Knott, Lewis, Union and Warren counties.
    A double-fatality crash occurred in Martin County and the victims were not wearing seat belts.

  • Conservation District cost share program is announced

    The Marion County Conservation District will be accepting requests for cost share funding under the Kentucky Soil Erosion and Water Quality Cost Share and Environmental Stewardship Program beginning Feb. 1, and extending through Feb. 28.           
    The Kentucky Soil Erosion and Water Quality Cost Share Program along with the Environmental Stewardship Program are created to help agricultural operations protect the soil and water resources of Kentucky.

  • Dairy meetings are scheduled

    The Kentucky Dairy Development Council and Alltech announce this year’s “Winter Cover All Dairy Series,” the meetings are set to run through Feb. 24 from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
    Registration will begin at 10 a.m. with milk, doughnuts and coffee. The presentations will start at 10:30 a.m.  Lunch will be provided at all of the meetings.

  • Knights claim top spot

    The Marion County Knights varsity boys basketball team took on the Adair County Indians at the Roby Dome on Tuesday of last week. Despite a major comeback from the Indians, the Knights held on to defeat Adair County by a final score of 55-48 to claim the top spot in the district standings. Senior Deshawn Douglas paced the way for the Knights with a team high 18 points.
    The win put the Knights on top of the district standings.

  • Essex wins trip

    The Marion County Lady Knights hosted the 2011 Autism Awareness Classic on Jan. 14-15.
    A portion of the money raised from the classic went toward an autistic family, that were selected in a drawing, to have an all-expense paid trip to an indoor water park for three days and two nights.
