    Faithful Citizenship luncheon
    “Growing Inequality:  So What?” is the topic of the Faithful Citizenship luncheon this month. The luncheon will be held at St. Thomas Parish Center, 870 St. Thomas Lane in Bardstown from 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.
    The facilitator will be David Dutschke, Catholic Charities Louisville office.
    The event is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Charities’ Nazareth office and is free and open to the public.

  • University announces academic honors list

    Campbellsville University Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham has announced the academic honors’ list for the fall 2013 semester.
    The academic honors’ list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours. The fall 2013 academic honors’ list includes a total of 607 students, with 229 named to the president’s list for achieving a 4.0 grade point average, and 378 named to the dean’s list for achieving a 3.5 to 3.99 GPA.

    The following Mid-Continent University students earned president’s list and dean’s list in the ADVANTAGE program.
     • President’s list – Eric Bell and Dona Owens, both of Lebanon.
    • Dean’s list – Jamie Montgomery, Chantini Owens, Tameesha Porter, Dawn Scott, Mary Scott, and Danny Wright, all of Lebanon.

  • Downs and Gardner will March 8


    Betty Broyles of Bardstown announces the engagement and forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Paula A. Downs, to Justin E. Gardner, son of Howard and Mildred Gardner of Elizabethtown.
    Downs has an associate degree in medical coding and is currently employed in child development at Kidz Place.
    Gardner is a technician at Time Warner Cable.
    The wedding is set for noon Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 108 Highland Dr., Bardstown.
    Formal invitations have been sent.

    Wednesday, Jan. 22: Taco salad, chili w/beef, salad greens, chopped onions, shredded cheese, corn chips, mixed fruit.
    Thursday, Jan. 23: Beef stew, coleslaw, assorted fruit yogurt, whole wheat roll.
    Friday, Jan. 24: BBQ pork on whole wheat bun, baked beans, orange half, brownie.
    All meals served with 8 oz. skim milk.
