  • Postal leaders should take a pay cut

Since I'm told that Marion County has 10 post offices counting the main post office, how does the management decide which one to close?

Since the Bradfordsville Post Office has been picked to close because of its dwindling income, isn't there a way to solve this post office issue?

It can't be income. The Bradfordsville income for 2011 is higher than the year of 2010.

If the USPS needs to cut a large amount of overspending, why not stop Saturday deliveries?

  • Letter: Job well done
  • Letter: Youth rally was ‘amazing’

I want to commend the people of Marion County that helped make the Heart of Kentucky Youth Rally possible. The Fiscal Court for allowing us the opportunity of having the roadblock and the folks who gave. The tourism commission for being so helpful and their support. It was all about uplifting our Lord and Savior and sharing Him with others. God blessed us with an awesome weekend with amazing Christian music and the word of the Lord.

    May God bless.

  • Letter: Cattlemen are there to help
  • Letter: Working on 2012 county fair

Now that the 2011 fair week is behind us, the Marion County Fair Board has been diligently accessing how this year’s fair was compared to previous years and how we can improve in the future. This year our attendance was down a little from previous years and expenses have increased, but local participation in some events was up. We didn’t do as well as we have in the past, but we look forward in our planning for next year’s fair.

  • Letter: Visit supported our troops

These are tough times for our men and women in uniform, fighting two wars overseas while families struggle at home through the recession. As a veteran myself, I know how difficult it can be to be away from your family. That's why I want to express my appreciation to Gov. Steve Beshear for visiting our troops. They need to know that we are praying for them every day, and he went over there personally to tell that. Good job, Gov. Beshear.
