  • This overachieving elf isn't on the shelf

The Elf on the Shelf... If you haven't heard of this Christmas phenomenon yet, you soon will.
Many of you already have an elf at your home. And, if you don't, well, there are some parents out there who would say you should consider yourself lucky. Apparently, there are some parents who don't particularly like having the "responsibility" of a little elf in their home.

  • Hard pill to swallow

Look in your medicine cabinet. Take a peek in your glove compartment. Glance at your kitchen counter.
You may not realize it, but you could be looking at one of the biggest drug problems facing Marion County and Kentucky.
When used carefully and correctly, prescription pills can go a long way toward treating a lot of medical issues. Unfortunately, it doesn't take much for a medical treatment to turn into chemical dependency.
We still have other drugs in our community, but prescription pills have become the biggest concern for local law enforcement.

  • Remember Our Troops

    By Alicia Matthews

Christmas is here, it's that time of year -

Everyone is rushing, spreading good cheer!

But far, far away in a land strange to most -

Our troops stand watch, at our Bases and Posts.

Our children are excited to sit on Santa's lap -

  • State rep wants to know what you think

If you haven't received a questionnaire from State Rep. Terry Mills, I suggest you give him a call. This is your chance to give him some input before the 2012 session of the General Assembly.

That said, what you'll see below are my views on the issues on the questionnaire. I'm only one constituent, however, so I hope he'll hear from many more of you, too.
