Descendents of the Blue and Lillie Mae Bell Family donated a portrait and postcards to the Marion County Heritage Center’s Black History Museum Sunday, Sept. 28. Officer Bell served on the police force until he was killed in 1974. Blue Bell was cousin to Chief Joe Bell (deceased), Lebanon’s first black chief of police.
Preceding Sunday’s presentation, more than 50 family members participated in Saturday’s Ham Days PIGasus Parade by walking or riding on a float recognizing four generations of the Bell family.
A former University of Kentucky offensive lineman became so excited after UK's game-winning fourth-quarter interception and touchdown Saturday that he caught his foot on a step, lost his balance and went over the railing of the upper deck of Commonwealth Stadium, a witness said Sunday.
Jay Blanton, a spokesman for UK, said Brad Durham was in serious condition at UK Chandler Medical Center. Durham allegedly fell 35 to 40 feet onto the lower level of the stadium.
