This November, marking the 25th anniversary of the film by the same name, Kentucky Classic Theatre presents “Steel Magnolias” on stage at Angelic Hall. Set in a small town Louisiana beauty shop and beginning on the day of Shelby’s wedding, author Robert Harling tells the true-life tale of his sister’s struggle to fulfill her dreams. Director G.B. Dixon and cast expertly relate this bittersweet story that is sure to have you laughing out loud and may even cause you to shed a tear or two.
The Marion County Lady Knights soccer team dropped to 1-15 last week when they were crushed, 8-1, by the North Bullitt Lady Eagles (10-7) on Oct. 1. It was the Lady Knights only game last week. Their only goal was scored by Lady Knights senior forward Sara Tucker on an assist from senior defender Casey Sowers.
From here, they will finish their regular season with matches against the North Hardin Trojans (8-7-1) on Oct. 8 and the Madison Southern Lady Eagles (8-4-1) on Oct. 9.

A mobile home at 103 St. Ann Street was destroyed by a fire Sunday evening.
The fire was reported at 10:02 p.m. Oct. 12, according to the Lebanon Police Dispatch. No injuries were reported, but the home was considered a total loss.
The Lebanon Fire Department, Lebanon Police Department and Marion County EMS responded to the scene.

A recent study by Blue Fire Broadband, a satellite Internet company that offers service in rural areas where cable and DSL aren’t readily available, listed all 50 states from best to worst in four categories: broadband speed increase from 2010 to 2014, average broadband speed in 2014, average price drop per megabits per second and average price per Mbps in 2014.
